Rugs are an affordable and effective way for you to decorate your living spaces. Rugs are available in a wide range of patterns, fabrics and colours and can be used to create either subtle or bold decorative features in your home.

Rugs need to be both attractive and practical in the home. If you place a delicate rug in a busy hallway which sees a lot of foot traffic then it can quickly become worn. You do need to consider what type of rug would be best for the space you want to decorate so that you can choose a design that will be both aesthetically pleasing and also long lasting.

Space
Space is a key issue when you are choosing rugs. Different colours, patterns and designs can create different effects on the space you are decorating. For example if you have a small room then lighter coloured rugs with simple patterns can be used to open up the space.

If you have a very large room then boldly patterned, colourful rugs can be used to define areas and help to make the room more inviting and intimate. Many traditional rugs have very closely woven patterns with warm red, gold and brown tones and these are useful to help make a room feel cosier. Modern rugs often have very simple, clean designs which are ideal for smaller rooms.

Size
You will need to consider the size of the room you want to decorate before you buy your rug. If you get a rug that is too big it can overwhelm the room and make it feel cluttered and cramped. If the rug is too small then it will just look lost and out of place. Rugs come in a wide range of shapes and sizes so you should be able to find an appropriate option for the size of room you are decorating.

Rugs can also be custom-made and this is ideal if you have an awkward space that does not meet any of the standard shapes and sizes. Don’t forget to measure the thickness of the rug as well. This is important if you want to locate the rug near a doorway. This will ensure that the door will still pass over the rug without causing any obstructions or trip hazards.

Rug Use
Think about where you will be putting your rug. If it is in the kitchen, dining room or any area where people eat and drink then you should anticipate a few spills and get a rug that can be cleaned easily.

If the rug is going to be in a hallway then you will need one that is hardwearing and will not show the dirt easily. Rugs for bedrooms can be softer as they will see less use and this can add a lovely luxurious touch to your sleeping spaces. The location of your rug will affect the style and type of fabric you choose so it is best to decide where you want each rug placed before you go out and buy any.

There are so many trends nowadays when it comes to decorating a house so that is why I just let the professionals do their job. It's easier that way for me and for them.

Nice write up. I study something similar here at Georgia Tech.
It's really stimulating to understand writing from other writers and see a little bit from their source. I’d love to utilize some of this information on my own webpage (if you don’t mind). Obviously, I’ll provide a link to %target_domain% on my blog. Thanks for posting.
