My Child Malaysia (MCM) Online recently interviewed Cynthia, the Head of Curriculum at The Curious Academy, Kuala Lumpur. Targeted at children from 6 months up to 7 years of age, The Curious Academy is the first Glenn Doman Learning Centre in Malaysia to combine physical and intellectual stimulation.

The LearningHub Asia, a specialist learning group, will be holding a series of free sampler workshops on 21st century learning skills that focus on speed reading, memory techniques and effective study skills between 18 to 29 May 2013. The 2-hour workshops are open to upper primary, secondary and post-secondary/tertiary students. It can be challenging to come up with ideas for entertaining the kids when the weather is cold, miserable and wet. In a way this limits your possibilities, considering that you cannot spend a lot of time outdoors; however, do not fret as there is plenty that can be done indoors too.

Parents of children diagnosed with developmental disabilities such as autism (or other learning disabilities) are often lost for ideas about how best to help their child. Neuro-typical kids learn by observation and copying; unfortunately our special kids will find it a challenge to even learn basic skills such as using the toilet or playing, and for the older kids, there are issues with using money, reading the time and understanding social cues. Standing in a class of preschoolers, John looks like any of his other classmates, having fun in school and often participating in peer activities. However, once he is overly excited, he will start to touch his nose with his fingers endlessly and babble softly. This is John’s third preschool. Why? This is the third mainstream preschool that is willing to enroll him and let him try out. Sometimes, John will cry and bite his classmates without any reasons. Unlike his peers, John still cannot write the letters of the alphabets or count to 10. It is not John’s fault. John is already 6 years old and has a "twin". His twin is Autism.
