2nd April is the United Nations World Autism Awareness Day and marks April as Autism Awareness month. While there has been more awareness today, the myth and mystery behind this condition remains elusive. However, every day we believe we are getting closer to understanding this condition, medically, educationally and therapeutically.

Sometimes work schedules stretch mothers and fathers to the breaking point with little time left for the people who matter most: children. Thankfully, spending time with family is more than ticking away the hours of a dull day; it is about quality interaction between parents and children. The term troubled teen is thrown around a lot these days, though the true definitions are not often discussed. Any mother of a teenager will tell you that they are a special brood of people. Teens tend to act very erratically due to fluctuating hormones and mood swings. So for most parents it can be difficult to determine when a kid crosses the line from being an angst-ridden adolescent to a troubled teen. Luckily, there are a few indicators we can look for to know when teen help is required.

With Anthony Weiner no longer front-page news now that he has resigned in disgrace from public office, what's a parent to make of that perfect storm - a mix of politics, power, sexting and lying? The media frenzy over the ex-Congressman's behaviour provides a clear teachable moment for our teens.

I always envy those mummies who have an easy pregnancy. I've no idea why morning sickness is called 'morning' sickness, when I've been vomiting for the whole day, after each and every meal for three of my pregnancies.
I'm now pregnant with number three. I'd been looking forward to the second trimester of my pregnancy – supposedly the ‘easiest’ time of one’s pregnancy. But I've been vomiting for the past 27 weeks and am still vomiting now!
