I remember the first time I heard that, in order to love someone else you first needed to love yourself. At the time, it didn’t make a bit of sense. Weren’t you vain if you loved yourself (or at least if you admitted it to anyone else)?

Not long ago "bringing home the bacon" was the father's role, but now working mothers are bringing home the bacon, too. Today, 50% of the mothers in our country (with children living at home) are working full time and most experience the stress of trying to balance it all especially when it comes to parenting. Sound familiar?
Although working mothers bring home some of the bacon (and if you are a single mother all of the bacon), it hasn't changed the fact that most working mothers are literally cooking the bacon, too.

Millions of Americans live their life off balance, lurching from one event to the next, but it may not be as bad as it seems. According to a study by the Families and Work Institute, a third of U.S. employees are chronically overworked and about half have been overworked at some point in the past month. Couple that statistic with the ever increasing number of Americans who are out of work, and it becomes clear that more and more of us are unmistakably off-kilter and out of sorts.
Juggling all aspects of life has always been a balancing act, but author and speaker Dan Thurmon believes that an off-balance life should not be fixed, but rather, embraced.

Ask any successful person what was it that enabled them to reach goals that to the ordinary person appeared beyond comprehension, they will tell you they took action. If you do not take action on a goal or a dream it will eventually die.
Being decisive and taking action fortunately is a skill that can be learned. Successful people do the opposite to unsuccessful people in as much as they make decisions quickly and change them slowly, if at all, unsuccessful people make decisions slowly and change them quickly.

The approach of the New Year is for many of us a reason for a resolution to change something in our lives. If you look in a women’s or health magazine, or in the adverts in the media or on the web, there are resolutions everywhere: improve your image, lose weight, improve your diet, stop smoking, go to the gym, start a new hobby, learn a new language, etc.
But if we want to keep our resolutions, we need to make them smartly.

As another year comes quickly to a close and we come face to face with the things we didn’t get done last year and the new promises to do them and others this year-maybe it’s time to change our strategy.
If you are feeling inadequate, frustrated, and let down by the promises you haven’t kept-you are due for a change in how you do things. It makes no sense to keep doing the same thing over and over each year expecting to get different results-”it ain’t gonna happen!”
